Holy Smokes Ex!! {{{groan}}}} I could have written every word that You did...which is exactly why i'm here -it is my first time on this forum, and my umpteenth time quitting...and i hear these forums can be helpful. i so want to stay quit, without going mad on a permanent basis... I generally make it quite a few days, then have an episode, usually around pms time, that is sooooo whacked full of anxiety and depression...and i relapse. it's the single most fearsome part of facing this process again...i'm so glad to know You are gritting through this. i'm so proud of you!! it's a great brave thing you did by coming here and sharing that. thank you!

Ex-Slave - I'm relatively new at this and haven't used NRT's but it seems to me that you are now going through withdrawal from the NRT. Remember, the dosage is low, but it still is nicotine getting into your system. You mention Wellbutrin - are you still on it? Maybe it's not right for you. I originally wanted to try it and the doc I went to said that Wellbutrin would make me more anxious instead of helping (because I had anxieties already and its a side effect). He put me on Zoloft and it has really helped. I'm on Chantix too, but the Zoloft keeps me on a more even keel and helped pave the way for me to accept quitting as my goal. You may just want to speak to your doc about this stuff.

Dear Ex-slave Oh please go and see your doctor about the depression. This is a very curable illness. I have had accute depression and you can not deal with it on your own. I'm on day 8 and using nrt's but am also on anti-depression medication and it really helps. Please dear talk to your doctor and he can put you on something to help. Untreated it will only drag you down. Help yourself to get well, I'm rooting for you. You're doing so great, don't let this trigger get to you. I'm here if you need me. Jaybird'slady.

Wow, Ex-Slave, very honest post and I'm sure I'll feel similarly now as to when I get to 100 plus days. It was a way of life for us. My moods go up and down, but I chalk that to hormones mainly ;) (sorry TMI). I do find some of the huge cravings difficult to deal with and worrisome for when I quit the Chantix, eg "how will I do this"...........I spent many days crying as well but things have improved too in other ways. I hope you're having a better day today. Ex-Slave: PLEASE speak to your doctor about this. You could very well be depressed and you must deal with that. It is not to be ignored. You have done such a great job quitting. I'm so sorry you haven't been able to really enjoy it and pat yourself on the back for it. You do NOT have to feel the way you are. One thing: I didn't use NRT, I used Chantix, but when I completed the Chantix, I felt depressed and very, very raw and edgy for about two weeks. It DID ease up, but it took a couple of weeks. Please tell us you've made an appointment to see your doctor. We all want you feeling great again! Hi Ex - Sorry that you have been feeling depressed. If you were prescribed well-butrin for depression, I believe that it is very likely that your body needs this much to be in the "therapeutic" level. Did you notice that you felt better when you took the prescribed amount? If not, perhaps another medication would be better. Although I didn't have much of a "physical" attachment to the patches at the end...it was definately an "emotional" process of letting go. I took them till the very end because I wanted every last one (even though I had been forgetting them and not noticing a difference) I knew that when the patches were done, I had really quit smoking. I was absolutely and completely an ex-smoker with no nicotine in my system. This was exciting but it was pretty scary too. We have been dependent on cigarettes for so many years, it is hard to imagine life without them....but we keep doing it every day and we get better at it one day at a time. You have done an amazing job - Now is the time to take care of yourself and protect your quit. Wishing you all the best from snowy Canada...... ex-slave, Sometimes its hard to believe where this addiction takes us emotionally. I'm 3 days behind Penguin, but I feel the same way. I'm using the patch and Zyban together, its definitely better and I don't feel like smoking, but I'm finding it difficult to find my motivation to get things done. Some days, as Penguin says as well, are better than others. And being NRT free for over a week could definitely trigger these feelings as well. I keep reading "this too shall pass" and I believe that time is best healer there is. However, if you find your not feeling any better, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to your doctor. Hope all goes well for you, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 746 Amount Saved: $216 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 19 Mins: 11 Seconds: 4

ex-slave I was wondering if you were feeling any better since you upped the wellbutrin, I know at first it gave me headaches if i didn't eat regularly enough but I adjusted after a week or so. Hope you're feeling better soon.
