Great bump again Tom. Your experience so resembles mine with alcohol. We are giving up smoking, not other pleasures and we are able to learn quickly that we can still enjoy one without the other by breaking the association! Congratulations on your 73 days! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1104 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,080 Amount Saved: 5,520.00 Life Gained: Days: 177 Hrs: 10 Mins: 10 Seconds: 57

Tom, Thanks for the bump and for sharing your experience. You can always tackle your caffeine consumption when you are more comfortable in your quit. Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Tessa, on one of my earlier quits, I found coffee bothered me. But when I came to this quit, I decided, "I am not going to stop living just because I quit smoking, so I refuse to give up my coffe." I did not give up my coffe, and what is amazing is I have never hjad a craving in the morning this time, with the coffee. Try this, if it is coffee you love, and you drank it black, try it with cream or vice versa. The idea being that if you change it up just a bit, the cravings will be gone because its not the same as it used to be. Give it a try and see what happens! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 82 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,050 Amount Saved: $865.10 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 2 Mins: 37 Seconds: 0

Tessa............ I am laughing!! oh honey... not at you...but this thought popped in my head when I read your post. You took the time to save three cigarettes and didn't save a light to smoke them. LOL LOL LOL LOL Can you imagine being on a deserted island....dying for a cigarette. You have one in your hand......and whoa and behold...no matches. In my old smoking days I would be rubbing two sticks together frantically for hours to light a fire. Not to keep warm.....but to smoke my last darn cigarette. LOL Tessa........be Proud. You are doing great...and any hard time you come accross is perfectly normal. Bump! Great post. I had the same coffee trigger, but I love coffee and have no health issues as a result of drinking it. Some are going to think I like pain (not true) but here's what I did. This was on day 3 of my quit, Saturday. I made myself 3 pots of half-caf coffee (that's what I drink) about 2 hours apart. The cravings came predictably hard at first and gradually were less by the end of the third pot. By day 4 I could easily handle the cravings. Now it's a nonissue. I didn't want to give up my coffee and did what I thought I had to to make this quit work for me. All the best plans don't resemble the rough draft when completed. I think I handled this one right. I quit smoking when drinking coffee about 6 months ago. Then I quit smoking on the way home from the bar about 3 months ago. Once I decided to quit, coffee and driving were not triggers. Don't quit everything at once. Gotta have some relaxation. Decaf is not an answer. I make it much stronger than regular so it tastes better and I dont get the jitters.
