But we're friends and I'm still smoke free. I don't like the lying but I agree, addicts lie, been there done that! Thanks for a great read! I found a pack of cigs in his jacket. 31 days. I cried. I cried because he lied but he says he lied because I'm doing so well. I realized it's my quit and mine only. Views?

I'm still quit, I'm sad, but it's not his problem. He was trying to protect me. It hurts but I'll get over it. You're right, quietly lead and don't nag. Why should he do what I want anyhow. I want it. But I'm sad still. Thanks for being there. It was a large row. My Dad is passed 3 years as well so I'm not right in the head Tomorrow is another day. Thanks for being there. freedomforme, Ditto here...same thing happened to me 1982 (my 10-yr quit beore my divorce)...when I found out he was still smoking...man I was mad! but...knowing that the addiction is our own, I knew I could not control his. So...I remained smokless "To spite Him", and just told him he would have to smoke outside. That was unheard of back then, you know the saying that a man's home is his castle? The neighbors thinking...what a shame the king has to smoke outside, laughing at him....(that was back then). Recently I drove down the old neighborhood, and noticed the kings outside all the way down the block..."smoking outside"! Tee-Hee Women are the stronger spieces you know? Stay fierce in your determination to be a Non-smoker... Freedom: You said it exactly right: It is YOUR quit and only your quit that you must be concerned about. I can understand why he didn't tell you -- good heavens, we've all been smokers, so can understand the wierd mentality of a smoker's justifications and rationalizations. He's probably genuinely feeling guilty about his caving in and really is proud of yours and doesn't want to jinx it in any way. I also understand your sorrow over losing your quit buddy. But please don't focus on that -- make it clear he can't smoke around you or in the house and that he's on his own. His quit or his caving is entirely his problem. YOU are doing great -- reward yourself big-time! Glad you posted here. You did the right thing. Hang in there and keep the faith!
