That's what I was going to say, Lainey...after the first few weeks you begin to really see the associations with smoking you've made in more detail. I remember doing yard work and all of a sudden wanting a cig. I thought, "Oh yeah, that's right. I used to take cig breaks doing this." So, I went inside and made myself a yummy glass of iced tea. Soooooo much more refreshing than a cig. I did that a few more times, and guess what? Now I don't associate smoking with doing yard work any more.
There are just hunderds of those associations. Sometimes they catch you by surprise. I remember talking to another member one time who was craving bigtime after a few weeks quit. We finally figured out she was reacting to her "bedtime cig" not being there. Once she was aware of what it was and replaced it with something else, she was fine. it's kind of fun, actually, figuring out what the association is that is making the urge or thought appear. And then replacing it with something else, if need be. Often just knowing what it's about is enough.
You Six Mustquiteers will do fine. I'd love to hear about some of these realizations as they come along...just cause i am always so curious.
