Right before going to work, and on the way to work is very tough.

Sparkwins, you're doing awesome with almost a month down! WOOHOO!!! Can you try taking a different route to work? Or make sure you always have a water bottle and a straw with you? That way, you would still have that final check to make, only it wouldn't be for smokes and a lighter. It would be for your water and a straw. As far as relaxing before leaving goes, I had that problem, too. I found that varying my morning routine and sitting in a different chair to have my coffee worked really well. I started getting into the shower and brushing my teeth first thing. Soemtimes, my eyes are still closed when I get into the shower, but it works because I take a minute to appreciate how clean I smell & how fresh my mouth is, and I do not want to taste & smell disgusting cigarette smoke. You are 29 days a non-smoker, my friend, and if you've been able to get out the door and to work for 4 weeks, you can keep doing it. Get yourself a reward, you have for sure earned one. How about a quick walk while you're waiting to go? Are you eating breakfast? Maybe that would break your old routine. JohnW always says to cut a milkshake straw in half and carry that in your mouth while you're driving. I tried to remember to take snacks I could eat while driving -- grapes, pretzel sticks, pieces of cheese or fruit. Put on your favorite tunes and sing really loud. That helped me a lot, though it scared the people in the cars around me. Usually before heading to work, I would sit and relax for about a half an hour, and then grab my stuff and lunch and head to work. It usually takes me about 20 minutes drive to get to work. This time is when I crave a smoke badly. I don't know what to do with this time, while I want to relax before going to work, I usually did it with a smoke, then I would have another on the way to work in the car. I notice everyday before work now, I have to fight off the cravings and in the car too. I keep thinking I am forgetting something when I leave the house, because now I don't have to worry about if I have my cigarettes or not and my lighter. But, everytime I work, I keep thinking I am forgetting something. Any suggestions on how to get over these cravings or not have to fight them as much?
