Boy Its Hard Getting Past Cravings

Hey Rick -- I'm with Bob -- they do get easier to live with.
The big mistake I made in my last quit was thinking that I had finally licked them for good.
In my case (and speaking only for myself!!), I need to accept that the craves -- or mild desires, really -- will probably never totally go away, so I'm learning now to kind of make friends with them and stop fighting them so much.  It seems to be working pretty well for me... I didn't see your quit date, though; it might depend on how far along you are --- things on day 3 are a lot more dire than they are, say, on day 30.  Maybe you could try and give yourself some time?

Hi Rick......There are 2 posts I just bumped for you to read if you haven't........"now I am beginning to understand addiction"......and "this is why you think about smoking"........both were excellent for helping me to understand why I have these craves....and in helping me be in charge instead of the addict.
Didn't make them go away.....but helped a lot to understand the battle inside my head.
I can only say they don't go away for a while........you just have to change your thoughts.......find other things to fill your mind.......and keep saying no to the addict inside you.
Mine are livable now.......manageable most of the time........But it isn't over yet.  Read others posts.
I know you didn't want to hear that.......but I can't lie to you......This is a fight that goes on inside you for a while.
Just be strong and tell your addict N.O.P.E
It really is the best way to go.........

I'm really trying to be smoke free but the cravings are strong.
Wished they go away soon.
How do others try to deal with them.
