Here are some practical tips that helped me at the beginning...
- Don’t have the first drink (it's the first one that does the damage)
- Decide not to drink just for today, tomorrow you might but not today
- A craving will pass after about 15 minutes, do something else for that long
- Keep candies or chocolate handy to help you through cravings
- If you’re thinking about drinking – call someone or post here, before having a drink!
- The more you don’t want to share what you're going through – the more you do need to talk
- Take extra care when hungry, angry, lonely or tired – eat, vent, make a call, take a rest
Easy does it, you can’t solve your whole life’s problems today
But if you don’t drink for today, at least alcohol won’t be one of them
