Minnesota,

DazedMommy's answer is right on. To eat best for anxiety:

limit
  • caffeine intake
  • alcohol
  • sugar
  • refined products (white flour, white pasta, white rice, etc.)
  • processed foods (cookies, chips, crackers, etc.)

increase
  • leafy green vegetables
  • complex carbohydrates (whole grains, brown rice, oats)
  • fruit
  • nuts
  • lean proteins (chicken, fish, yogurt, etc)
Eating a well balanced diet and maintaining a regular exercise pattern can be very beneficial to those who experience anxiety.

Member, feel free to share some foods or activities that you've had success with.

Hi Minn...

This is something I've done a lot of research into.  Refined foods aka WHITE... lol.. White sugars, white flour, white bread etc.  All of these things play a role in the creation of yeast in the body which in turn can wreak havoc on your system and increase anxiety symtoms tenfold.    I've tested this and found it to be true.  When my body is full of the good stuff, I am MUCH more balanced especially at that time of the month (sorry guys) and when I get lazy and start indulging again I can feel it creeping in.  Not that you can't ever have those foods but yeast is an awful thing... you can google this and read about it.

Foods high in calcium (green leafy ones) are also great.  Foods rich in B vitamins are fantastic at balancing too.  You just need to be consistent.  Watch the dairy though as it sometimes has ingredients that can increase anxious symptoms..

Certain nuts have healing properties as well like walnuts with their Omegas... When you have all these things your body will be much more harmonious.

There is actually a book with an anxiety diet in it.. I'll see if I can dig up the title.  I was just working on getting my diet back on track as I mentioned in an earlier post... I've put on about 10lbs in the last few months and it's killing my esteem...which in turn motivates me even less... ugh.

I'll update you when I find the book...

Hi, I would like to know if there is any eating habits I could do to help reduce anxiety or any tips in that area.  I try not to have too much caffeine, I like decaf teas and I dont drink coffee. Anyone one have any other suggestions?
