Anxiety about event driven situations

20 godina 0 1 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hello, I need help with just thinking/visualizing a situation. I have been noticing and hearing people chewing gum/eating loudly. At first it was just one person but now I notice it wherever I go. The sound of people chewing gum to me is like nails on a chalkboard to some. I know this whole feeling is ridiculous, but I can't figure out why I can't stand it. I think it started with my boss who chews gum loudly and then leaves it on the edge of her cup while drinking coffee. I dread going to work because of this. I do love my job though. Even just thinking about going home to my lovely wife, who chews gum after supper, sets me off into stomach turning mode. I don't want to go to movies for fear of sitting next to someone chomping loudly on their popcorn and having to listen to it through the whole movie. Car rides with gum chewing people are nearly unbearable. I just started session 3 about making sure to analyze thoughts to see if they are 100% true. I know the sound doesn't physically hurt me, but it still bothers me. I know my wife and friends don't want to upset me, and I know this is my problem. I love my wife and want to get over this so I can enjoy life with her. Any advice would be appreciated. :confuse:
