Ninety "Meetings" in Ninety Days

I am quiting in a few days and I think it is a great idea! I am going to do that. I am also going to be hypnotized on my quit date. I have tryed every nicotine replacement invented and nothing has worked so this time I am going to use everything I have learned and some new things. I hope to be able to skip the nicotine replacement because it is expensive and doesn't seem to help me anyways. It's not the physical addition for me so much as it is the connection that smoking has with my identity and lifestyle. Anyways, my idea is to use everything I possibly can and just do it. I think that this really might help because now after as many attempts as I have made, everyone around me is so skeptical. I don't blame them though because I have said I was quiting hundreds of times. They just say, yeah yeah haha. Maybe that won't happen here.

I hate to burst your bubble, but 90 and 90 IS NOT even in the Big Book - it IS NOT part of AA and over my 16 yrs, I've found 90 and 90 to be pretty useless info. What IS said is attend as many meetings as possible. When THE program is changed - it stops being the program - and there should be no surprise if it doesn't work.

I know that is not in the Big Book, but I always thought it was a fantastic suggestion. It tends to help people get a good foundation within the program. It certainly worked for me in the begining. It gave me somewhere I needed to be every day besides getting loaded. And now I am happy to say that next month I will be 15 years clean and sober. I was a member of a 12 Step group in recovery for an addiction and a huge part of its success was a suggestion that you come to a meeting every day for the first ninety days of your recovery. I've adopted that same thing for my nic addiction. I come here every single day if not more than once. I don't post very much but I read and read ... Kind of like those other meetings where I didn't share all the time but I sure did listen. So, if you are wondering if you are spending too much time here I'd say don't worry about it. Especially if you are in your first ninety days! I am so grateful to have the SSC. Colleen Just for Today ... I have a dual monitor system here at work. The monitor in front of me contains my work, the monitor on my right contains my quit meter and the SSC group. I will come here as often as I can for as long as I need to and then some probably. This site, the people who run it, and the people who are using it have given me more than they can possibly realize. They have given my life a second chance. Go ahead, find another site on the web that can do that.....
