Thank you for your suggestions....I know I beat myself up but I guess that is part of the whole panic disorder thing too isn't it? Yes, I have decided that whenever something frightens me, or gets me in a panicky mood, I will try to challenge those thoughts with "there must be a reason I am scared, maybe my fear is pointing me in that direction, maybe fear is pointing me to what I need to do, that is to love the person, or thing that frightens me. Maybe God is directing it...I do believe that the spirit world is in charge of what is going on here on earth, and that we as individuals are more involved with spirit creatures than we realise. So I will try to challenge my fear/embarassment/shame thoughts with an arrow sign pointing me to who to love, and who to try and help. What do you think? Except of course, not imaginary, but real danger.

Hi redface, While you do have a choice in how you deal with things that happen, I don't believe any of us ever made the choice to be anxious, panicky, overly sensitive types. If we could all "just do it" this disorder wouldn't exist would it? For so long I hated myself for not being able to overcome this on my ownand was so angry at myself that I had become this way. Books and pychologists only reinforced my belief that if I could just make myself not worry and enjoy things and quit being so sensitive to every little thig, I would be just fine. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I eventually had a complete breakdown that left me nearly confined to my parents home ( I was too scared to be alone) for months. It wasn't until I came to this site and read all these postings that I finally realized I had a serious illness- this wasn't some kind of personal weakness or personality flaw. I have a serious medical condition requiring treatment. It has been a long, slow process but I am starting to get my life back. I guess what I'm trying to say is that beating yourself up for being this way will not do you any favors. Of course, keep working on enjoying life and work on getting your anxiety under control by all means. I am finding that after spending the better part of a year in what felt like a torture chamber, I now notice and enjoy small, simple things I never even would have noticed before I got ill. Success to you. Sarah

Nurseboy is right...just do it! Those turkey's you speak of might need a little kindness...one doesn't know what they have been through that makes them who they are. As far as helping others and being happy those two go hand in hand anyway. It is my greatest pleasure in life helping others...God is who showed me that path. I have always been deeply spirutual and connect with my God in my own way. He has helped me by guiding me and surrounding me with supportive people who genuinely care. I don't know how you feel about spirituality but it works for me...open up your heart and let your beautiful spirit guide you. Rose

How can I become a fun loving person, give up the whiny attitude and just face my fears with happiness? Has anyone out theree tried it?

How can I change from being a serious sensitive type person to being a person who enjoys every day of life regardless of the turkeys that try to get you down? I want to challenge my negative thoughts, so how do you make the choice and go from melancholy to enjoying every moment of life, loving everyone you meet, and trying to have as much fun as possible while helping others? Any ideas? Roll them in....
