Hey Workin'!!!

Happy New Year!  I also sometimes have to remind myself that just because it's a good deal doesn't mean I have to buy it as I check Ebay once again this morning!  I'm glad that they are dreams and not actual slips!

          Cheers!

Well look at it this way, your cravings are being fulfilled in your dreams and not in real life thank goodness. Hang in there. They say it does get easier with time.

Just had another one last night. It was pretty intense, as I remember smoking several cigarettes in it. I remember stopping in the middle of the last one and putting it out. Telling myself that just because I had another half cigarette there didn't mean I needed to smoke it.

Interesting, since my New Year's "resolution" is to tell myself that just because food is presented/ available doesn't mean I have to eat it.  Apparently, there's been some substitution going on, and the subconscious knows it...

Sounds like these dreams pull you on an emotional rollercoaster!  So good to hear that they are just dreams in each of your cases - and that it strengthens your resolve to stay quit!

I've been having relapse dreams as well. In a weird way they're like an education, because in them I smoke a cigarette and only remember that I have quit as I am stubbing it out. And then I cry and cry because I let all this hard work go to waste, and I wake up remembering that awful feeling and feel even more resolved.

@snice, I am having the same problem with waking up in the middle of the night and wanting to smoke. Just hoping it goes away eventually!

I haven't been having any crazy smoking dreams this time around, but I have been waking up in the middle of the night and "forgetting" that I'm trying to quit.  I find these the worst times for me, and when I crave the most.  I thought we were supposed to sleep better when not smoking... what gives!?  (I make sure I take the patch off about 2 hours before I go to bed, or I have crazy, vivid dreams.)  Once I make it through the night and about the first hour after I get up, I generally feel better the rest of the day.  Thanks goodness!!

Hi Working,

Those dreams are so great when you wake up and realise you have not smoked at all!  You should get fewer dreams like that as time goes by.

Had a relapse dream last night. It was pretty messed up because I didn't just relapse. I was also in denial about relapsing. In the dream, I had been smoking 1 or 2 a day for a few weeks, but kept telling myself that I wasn't smoking because it was "just one" each time. Crazy, huh? At the end, right before I woke up, I was realizing that I had totally been lying to myself and others about being quit. I was disappointed in my own dishonesty and bummed about having to start my quit again.

...Thankfully, it was just a dream! Whew!
